I was on ebay and I saw people that were selling “unlocked,” blackberries, and “locked,” blackberries . . . what does that mean ?

when a phone is first purchased from the cell phone provider, it is “locked” which means you can’t install certain software and you can only use that ONE provider.

if it’s been unlocked, you can install anything and use other carriers.
