Question by Grant: Where and how do the people that sell Blackberry unlock codes actually get access to these “codes”?
I understand that there is likely a database of some kind that RIM has containing the IMEI and network unlock codes of all the Blackberry devices on in the market. But how do all these online retailers that promise speedy “Remote unlock codes” obtain this list or get this information? Do they need some kind of inside source that works at the company to provide them with the unlock code? Or do they somehow generate the code using an unlocking generator?

They will get From the Service Provider i think..They make contact with the Network service providers & get the code from them & provide to you so that they needed the IMEI Number,Locked Network Details,Mobile Model..I recently find the Unlocking instructions site http://www.mobileunlockguide.com/ there you can get the Free Unlocking reference for the BB Mobiles.

If you have a sim card from a different provider other than Cingular(e.g. T-Mobile), put that sim in the blackberry and it should ask for the code. It should say something along the lines of Enter Special Code or Enter Subsidy Code. Then enter the code and press ok.

Question by dc: Blackberry Tour keypad is locked and I can’t unlock it. Help!?
OK, so I have a Blackberry Tour with all the default settings, and the keypad locked while in my pocket and it won’t unlock. I’m pressing:
* and [send],
* then [send],
[alt] & [enter],
and nothing is working.
I’m getting the “Keypad is locked. Press the Lock button to unlock.”
Every site I’ve looked at says I have to press * and [Send], but that hasn’t worked. The only way I’ve done it successfully is by removing and reinserting the battery.
Does anyone have some tips?

Question by justgottateach: How do you unlock an blackberry 8320?
I purchased the phone from an ebay store and received it today. It is for my carrier, so I don’t think it is the SIM lock that I’m dealing with. This is the device lock that stops you from using any of the keyboard functions, even without a SIM card in the phone. My daughter has set one on her phone so no one can access her information….she set it up herself. Is there a way to “unlock” it without the password?

Answer by Mike
If you don’t have or don’t remember the personal password that was set, you can reset your phone by entering the incorrect code 10 times. If you do this, it will erase all the information on the phone and will be back to factory condition.

Question by Zach: How do I unlock by Blackberry Curve 8530?
My mom just bought a new blackberry curve 8530. But we have a big problem. It is locked and on the screen it says “Press the mute button to unlock”. We have pressed the mute button 20 times, and all it does is beep and stay locked. In the book it says to press some keys and select unlock, THAT didnt work either. And on this fone, THERE IS NOT AN UNLOCK KEY, I checked. I really dont know what else to try.

Question by Lolo: Turn off Mute to Unlock on a Blackberry Curve?
So on the new update for Blackberry, when you lock your phone by pressing the A key, you have to unlock it by pressing the mute button.
I set a password hoping to stop this, but it still says “Mute to Unlock” instead of asking for my password.
Does anyone know how to set my phone so it is password locked?
Thank you!

Answer by NRocket
There’s no option to have it just do the password unlock. It’s just a way to prevent the phone from turning on in your pocket and putting your password in wrong enough times to wipe your data.
If you get a blackberry brand holster or leather pocket it will unlock as soon as you pull it out.
