Question by herbert: is asking me for a MEP ?
I just bought a blackberry bold off a friend, and his carrier is Vodafone. I my sim card in the and it says, Invalid Sim. Then it says, do you want to your , the MEP Network Code. I am just asking, is that the code to actually unlock the blackberry?

I entered all my information in this site: http://freemyblackberry.com/?

and it looks like a decent site which will provide me with an unlocking code, but what is the MEP Network Code? Because I followed some instructions and found my MEP number – 06814-005… I entered it in the “MEP Network Code” and it didnt work.

What do i do

You need to submit your information on their site. They will return a code via your email. This code must be entered into your blackberry as the unlock code.

From what I gather, it sounds like you are trying to enter the 06814-005 as your code. That is just an identifier to assist the website in finding your correct unlock code.

The actual unlock code will be a longer code.

Hello,
Both are same but it is necessary that code should be correct because free unlocking code leads to data lost and more is that has only 10 attempts to get otherwise it gets hard locked. So buy reliable code by BLACKBERRY 9700 UNLOCK CODE provider with Instructions.

If you have a sim card from a different provider other than Cingular(e.g. T-Mobile), put that sim in the blackberry and it should ask for the code. It should say something along the lines of Enter Special Code or Enter Subsidy Code. Then enter the code and press ok.

Question by Jazmin: What does “restriction on a Nokia ?
Hi! I had a Nokia phone that I brought over to India to give to my fiance because I had it as an extra. He is finally getting around to trying to use it now, but it says “ restriction code”. Is that the same thing as “” it? I knew that a or other device like that had to be unlocked but I didn’t think a phone did. Does this mean he won’t be able to use it there? Or, how does he find the “restriction code”?

Thanks!

Question by Leeleigh Waholm: My bb is asking me to and then my but it wont let me in!?
All of a sudden when I went to my bb pearl to read my messages it wouldnt let me in. It then asked for me to enter “blackberry” to proceed which I did and then it STILL didnt accept my password. I looked closer and saw that instead of my password starting with a zero it was inputting a space and instead of turning to stars it was leaving the whole password readable on the screen. This happened once before and I got into a heated argument with a Telus rep who told me I had my password wrong. It’s been the same password for the last year and a bit so I am confident that isnt the case. Suddenly it started working again after a couple of hours and I was so happy but this time it’s been at least 12 hours with no luck. I am on attempt 4/5 and stressing on how to fix it. If anyone can help I would appreciate it!
Thanks!

You may want to take your device into a local store for assistance, or contact customer support again. since it appears your device is configured for a maximum of 5 password attempts, if you enter the code wrong on the 5th time, the device will completely wipe all data and reset itself to defaults. Once this happens, you will need to go through activation completely again.

If, by chance, your blackberry is tied to a BES server through your employer, you should contact your tech support at work. The BES administrator has the ability to reset the handheld’s password remotely for you.
