Just bought Blackberry bold is asking me for a MEP Network Code?

Question by herbert: Just bought Blackberry bold is asking me for a MEP Network Code?
I just bought a blackberry bold off a friend, and his carrier is Vodafone. I enter my sim card in the phone and it says, Invalid Sim. Then it says, do you want to unlock your phone, enter the MEP Network Code. I am just asking, is that the unlocking code to actually unlock the blackberry?

I entered all my information in this site: http://freemyblackberry.com/?

and it looks like a decent site which will provide me with an unlocking code, but what is the MEP Network Code? Because I followed some instructions and found my MEP number – 06814-005… I entered it in the “MEP Network Code” and it didnt work.

You need to submit your information on their site. They will return a code via your email. This code must be entered into your blackberry as the unlock code.

From what I gather, it sounds like you are trying to enter the 06814-005 as your code. That is just an identifier to assist the website in finding your correct unlock code.

The actual unlock code will be a longer code.
